April 4th… Home Phone. Good Idea? Ask ET

So today, is April 4th.  Most people will be celebrating Easter today.  But from my mixed background, I don’t know exactly what to do.

I forgot to make chocolate covered matzoh balls for PassoveEaster Peter Cottontail to hide.  The only Easter Bonnets I own are a rastafarian beret, houndstooth fedora or a woven-straw trash can.  As for food, I hate ham.  I would substitute gefilte fish, but I hate that even more.  Why, oh why did I forget to make the chocolate covered matzoh balls?  Now I will surely starve.

Oy!  What’s a 3/4 Jewish/shikse girl to do on a holiday she doesn’t celebrate?

Well, I guess I could choose from the other holidays today stands for.

Like, did you know that April 4th commemorates the date that the first home phone was installed?

At 2 a.m. this morning, I was blessing that convenience, when the police department called with a prerecorded message informing us that the neighbor who was shooting his gun off had been “secured” whatever that means.  That was blissfully sleep inducing.

Or did you know on April 4, 1949, NATO was established?  Maybe they should have sent NATO troops over to my multicultural neighborhood thus ensuring that peace would be kept in my backyard.  That would make certain that we would celebrate Easter today whether we liked it or not!

Ah… all these blissful holidays for me to consider.  I think I will head for my box to figure out which one I like best.  Maybe I’ll just bring in a fluffy pillow and warm blanket and snuggle down to get some of that sleep that today’s holidays have deprived me of….

Holiday your way around the box.  Life is full of choices.  Indulge yourself!
